Interest in Ethiopia is undoubtedly great nowadays with the result that a number of writings have been published on the many facets of Ethiopian reality, some critical, some favorable. The religious aspect dealt with in this book is without question of singular importance and therefore of particular relevance.
The book, edited for the first time by the 'Orientalia Christiana Analecta, 147' under the title 'La Dottrina della Chiesa Etiopica dissidente sull'unione Ipostatica' is now out in a second edition, up-to-date and noticeably improved, under the title 'La Chiesa Etiopica e la sua Dottrina cristologica'. The present English translation of the latter contains a few additions and minor changes.
The success of the original edition, which had been reproduced several times photostatically, the requests by scholars for an English edition and the impact such a work may have on ecumenical understanding have encouraged the author to bring out this second edition.
