The study of Greek Lyric Poetry has long been handicapped by the lack of a convenient text-book. The present volume brings together the principal poems and fragments published by Lobel and Page in Poetarum Lesbiorum Fragmentaand by Page in Poetae Melici Graeci. AlI passages of high literary quality are included, together with a large selection of those whose interest is mainly historical or biographical. The texts have been revised where necessary, and the critical apparatus has been abbreviated and adapted to serve the needs of teacher and student.
